This month was a bit slow due to university assignments ramping up. I built a LOT of age of Sigmar models so I could start playing in my LGS’s 2k weekly games, they don’t have a painting requirement luckily, but I’m looking forward to painting a lot of these gitz. I’ve already painted a squid herd unit and made good progress on a Loonshrine before I got dragged back into the world of 40k. Will I ever finish the Loonshrine? No.

As far as 40k goes, I finished painting some admech Skitarii, and started on a unit of Serberys Raiders & an Onager Dunecrawler. I really enjoy painting my admech scheme and I think it’s one of the better schemes I’ve painted, but I really scuffed the bases on these Skitarii. I figured because they were small at 25mm I would skip a few steps of my normal process, but that turned out to be a bad idea. I’ll have to make sure to do them properly next time.

I also finally finished painting a unit of Sternguard that were mostly painted since last year. I think they turned out alright, it can be really easy to get messy when trying to paint quick, and the retro scheme works best with super clean painting.

After not buying any new models for a few months, I went nuts (at the start of the month buying AoS models) buying a few Blood Angels kits, and then had to stop myself buying more. But I got the Sanguinor built and painted, ‘male’ Celestine as it were (thanks Ian). I’m looking forward to using him in future games with my marines thanks to his cool deepstrike into combat rule, hopefully this isn’t removed when the supplement (codex) releases.

The Vindicator, and my jump pack intercessors and captain also got some paint on them. Hoping to finish these in June. I’d like to get some of my Sisters models touched up before Terracon on the 8-9th of June, but my last Uni assessment is due on the 4th so we’ll see how much time I have after I submit it, and if I can actually be bothered.

Hobby goals June:

  • Finish painting Vindicator
  • Finish jumpercessors & jumptain
  • Start painting redemptor (I’m still not sure I like this model)
  • Build Danta & Sang Guard
  • Try not to buy any new models until I complete all of the above

Considering how long it takes me to paint the retro scheme, this might be all I get done in June. I’m off work for a couple of weeks in July so my goals might be more ambitious next month.

NB. The lighting in these pictures is pretty piss poor, I’ll try to up my miniature photo skills for the next hobby update. If you have any good resources for taking photos of little plastic toys please let me know!

  1. […] Hobby update: May @ Litanies of the Faithful – I’m mostly sharing this for the yellow squigs. They look great, and I love nice, colourful armies. Thanks for sharing! […]
