Hello, it’s Tuesday, and I am writing a blog post.
To be honest, I’m just glad to be here, but one day I’ll actually have something relevant to say every Tuesday.
Maybe. That’s a bit of a stretch.
Now that the Eradication Cohort has been out, for what, 2 weeks? I want to have a look at some lists that have popped up at tournaments and see what INNOVATIONS this new detachment has created.
While looking through lists on BCP I found this gem, shout out to Jaymo Vanetten.

List no. 1
Our first EC list is from Edward Molnar who went 4-1 at the Silicon Valley GT.
- Cawl
- Enginseer
- Mani – Martial Signatum Amplification (Skitarii)
- 3x Skitarii Rangers
- 1×6 Kataphron Breachers
- Onager – Erad
- 1×5 Pteraxii Skystalkers
- 2×3 Serberys Raiders
- 1×5 Infiltrators
- 1×10 Ruststalkers
- 3×1 Disintegrators
Pretty standard combined arms admech list. The spice here being giving the Kataphrons the Skitarii keyword so that they can benefit from the detachment rule & Stratagems.
In particular Unshackled Wrath to give the breachers sustained in addition to their lethal hits, increasing their effectiveness outside of their rapid fire range, and Analytic Reprisals to shoot back at unsuspecting opponents.
Dizzies benefit from Threat-Cogitation Targeters for the re-rolls if required and having Invocation of Machine Vengeance + re-roll 1’s to wound if you are in Conqueror ensures you are getting value from this stratagem.
The Onager provides a solid source of D3 damage, and the Enginseer handing out the 5+ feel no pain means opponents will likely need to overcommit in order to kill whichever tank this is on.
Otherwise the list includes some solid scoring and move-blocking pieces. Cool list, I would play it, except I would probably drop 1x Disintegrator for something a bit more spicy.
List no. 2
Our next list is brought to us by Mike Emery who went 2-1 at an RTT.
- 2x Enginseer
- Techno
- 2×10 Skitarii Rangers
- 3×2 + 1×2 Ironstriders
- Onager – Erad
- 1×5 Pteraxii Skystalkers
- 1×3 Serberys Raiders
- 1×9 Servitor Battleclade
- 3×5 Sicarian Infiltrators
- 2×1 Disintegrators
- 1x Dunerider
You can’t beat old reliable. When the going gets tough, the tough put 8 chickens on the table and kill everything within LOS.
The omission of Cawl & Thulia makes me a little bit sad, the list feels a bit boring without some spice. Double Enginseer following – presumably – an Onager and a Disintegrator can be incredibly powerful (as seen in the previous list). There is just something cooked about a tank with a 2+ save, getting a 5+ feel no paint, and then using smoke. Shit just don’t die innit.
Otherwise this list is neat for EC, I think. You pretty much kill everything the chickens look at and if you throw a re-roll damage into their it’s even better. I guess this is more of a protector list which isn’t how I usually enjoy to play the game, but the list also has no way of going double ups on Imperatives.
I don’t know how to play the sit back and gun style. I am a conqueror. There are plenty of pieces to force engagement through scoring and to sufficiently screen. There is not a lot I would want to give away to contest primary which is my general playstyle.
A unit of Servitors in a Dunerider goes hard though.
List no. 3
The last list we’ll look at today is a teams list by Andrew Prusakov who won all 3 of his games into T’au, Chaos Daemons and Adepta Sororitas.
- Cawl
- Enginseer
- 2×10 Skitarii Rangers
- 1×10 Skitarii Vanguard
- 2×3 Ironstriders
- 1×10 & 1×5 Infiltrators
- 1×10 & 1×5 Ruststalkers
- Onager – Erad
- 2×1 Disintegrators – Energy cannons
All 3 lists today have had Enginseers, whats up with that?
I have never run one in a tournament list before but the Enginseer x Onager combo is looking really solid on paper, I’ll have to give it a go.
This list leverages the same tools as the other lists but puts a greater emphasis on the Sicarians. In my opinion this is a double edged sword. While Cawl does hand out Oath, you miss advance and charge in this detachment, and if you’re already missing out on that, Thulia can give you double doctrines meaning they re-roll 1’s to hit and wound and you can keep the rest of your shooting orientated army in Conqueror.
I do appreciate the additional threat range being in conqueror gives you, but Thulia can do that herself now anyway.
Otherwise, 2x Rangers & 1x Vanguard is my general go to for battleline.
The Disintegrators with energy cannons is an interesting choice but for a teams event is actually incredibly smart as the chickens will do most of the long-range anti-tank heavy lifting. I might actually put this on the table. Doubling the doctrine means you’re re-rolling 1’s to hit and wound at -3AP blast, additionally you can re-roll all hits (if taking Cawl) and put Sus and Lethal on the tank, which you can heal later with an Enginseer.
I am fairly certain you will only find value out of this against 1 wound armies – I completed a quick unit crunch and even with re-roll 1’s to hit and wound and lethal/sustained you’re killing 2 Space Marines on average, or 4 T3, 1 wound, 3+ save equivalent.
That’s all for today. I will be taking elements of these lists as I prepare to run EC at a teams event in May, but I will likely be using a couple of squads of Hastarii when they’re available.
Thanks for reading x.
