Hello Warhammer 40k enjoyers and Aidan,
On the 23rd of August I attended a special Birthday RTT hosted by the birthday boy Andi, at an undisclosed location in Huntly, Victoria.
I was going to run the CSM list I plan on playing at a local GT in two weeks, but I put my four armies in the Wheel of Names | Random name picker and it came up with Sisters, I also randomized the detachment, and it landed on army of faith.
Now, I had never played army of faith, but thanks to my incredible past experience with playing sisters – as well as copying Stephen Box’s tournament winning list from 11 months ago and ensuring I tailored my list specifically for Tyson’s Eldar – I put together something, incredible.
List:
- Janoness: Litanies of Faith
- Dialogus
- Hospitaller
- Morvenn Vahl
- Palatine: Blade of Saint Ellynor
- 10×1 BSS
- Sororitas Rhino
- 3×1 Castigator – 2x autocannons, 1x battlecannon
- 10×1 Celestian Sacresant – Maces
- Exorcist – lmao get rekt Tyson
- 1×1 Mortifier
- 3×1 Paragon Warsuits
- 2×5 Repentia
- 2×5 Seraphim – Flamers
Luckily for me, DG, IK, and CK, were points nerfed the week before and our gracious host included these points changes in our RTT, so the local meta-chasers wouldn’t be able to capitalise, as they usually do. Knowing this, I got to enjoy playing Warhammer.
My plan was to come second so I won a cool Land Raider, and to drink lots. I achieved one of my goals.
Game 1 – Tyson’s Custodes (played by Andi)
Hidden Supplies, Hammer and Anvil
Tyson’s list (Lions of the Emperor): I can’t be bothered looking it up.
Custodes. I killed them I suppose. Lots of Castigator guns, Morvenn Vahl etc. Grandes, tank shock blah blah blah.
Going second was neat; my secondaries were piss but I was having a whale of a time. Being back on Sisters felt, right. But after playing AdMech for like a year, literally playing anything else feels fantastic.
The highlight of this game was charging Andi’s Shield-Captain in Allarus Terminator Armour and leaving it on 2 wounds after the Palatine w/ blade swung. I got two lethals with BSS close combat weapons and Andi rolled double 1’s for his save, he then CP re-rolled one and passed.
On the subsequent turn he fell back with the Shield-Captain, and although I had a Multi-melta with auto lethals from the Dialogus, I rolled the shots for my bolt guns first. I landed a single lethal hit.
Andi rolled a 1 for his save, and then re-rolled it into a 1.
Kek

Ignore the secondaries for the first 3 battlerounds, the scores are accurate but I kind of cooked the inputting part.

After this, we went to get lunch.
It was pizza time. Andi organised Dominos for everyone, and I started drinking. One of my goals was on the way to completion.
Game 2 – Ryan’s Space Wolves
Purge the Foe, Crucible of Battle
Ryan’s List (Saga of the beast man): Big wolves, men with axes, Wulfen, hover tank, 5 intercessors.
I want a Space Wolves army, there I said it.
I want more armies; I want every army in the game. I like to play different stuff. It’s fun, I’m sick of playing the same thing. I hate this game.
My round 2 opponent was another Ryan, and there can only be one.
I was going second on Purge the Foe so I continued consuming alcohol and talking as much shit as my lungs allowed.

I’m unsure what turn this image was taken after, but it was a turn during the game.
I started the game with much vibrato. Ryan (not me the other Ryan) moved a big grav-tank around a corner and said oath of moment that Mortifier. I said no, I will not die, and I will kill your tank next turn.
My Mortifier died, and I did not kill his tank in the next turn, I drank more.
I hadn’t played Army of Faith before this game, and I hadn’t really played Sisters for a year, so I was still learning. Turns out, then you apply an extra ap to a unit with a Castigator, then give another Castigator an extra ap with a stratagem you can kill an entire Blood Claw unit in pretty much one go. I wasn’t expecting the big DAM.
The best part of this game was when Ryan left a Castigator on a single wound and it failed battle-shock. He kept No Prisoners and Bring it down so if I failed my desperate escape, it would die, and he would get 10 VPs (4 more from kill one).
I fell back anyway and rolled a 3, lol. Pretty good meme.

Game 3 – Cool Aaron’s Grey Knights
Take and Hold, Tipping Point
Aaron’s List (Banishers): Brotherhood Librarian: Sixty-sixth Seal, Castellan Crowe, 2×5 Brotherhood Terminators, 2×5 Strike Squad, Razorback, Rhino, 10×1 Interceptor Squad, 5×1 Interceptor Squad, 10×1 Paladin Squad, 10×1 Purifier Squad.
That was his list in BCP, but it wasn’t actually his list on the day. I’m not sure what happened there lol.
I was going second on Take and Hold, second 3 times in a row, luckyyyyyy.

Unfortunately for Aaron I just had too many guns with the perfect profiles for all his marine bodies. Castigators all with damage 2 or 3, access to extra ap strats and buffing the AP against each unit from their battle sheet abilities was too much.
There weren’t great places to stage, and he wasn’t able to effectively reach my tanks to stop them gunning his silver boys down.
Although, the GK book only just came out and he has a lot more experimenting to do. We chatted strategy for a while after the game and he has a lot of great ideas.
I always enjoy playing Aaron, he’s a super nice dude and has gotten way better at Warhammer since he started. Can’t wait to travel to 8-man teams with him.

This was the best day playing Warhammer I’ve ever had.
Like anything in life, Warhammer is just another excuse to spend time with people, and we’ve managed to cultivate a great group of friends through the hobby. We travel around the state going to tournaments, spend time together on weekends and chat to each other daily about life, and the game.
I didn’t get anything for winning, but Jordy won a Heldrake in the raffle which was cool.

Thanks Andi & Kristian for putting this on.
Host more events, Kristian. I will give you Australian dollars to attend.
Thank,
Ryan
