It’s been a while since I had a squiz at how AdMech are going, so today let’s investigate the haves and have-nots using Best Coast Pairings list search feature Play | Best Coast Pairings.
It also appears BCP have updated their website, gross. I’m not sure if BCP actually care about not being shit or have realized if they’re not shit someone else will do their job better without much effort at all.
Either way, I previously signed up for a BCP subscription on Android play, but cancelled my subscription after the first month, and for some reason BCP still thinks that I have an active paid subscription even though I haven’t paid anything for months. Thanks BCP! It seems you still have some kinks to sort out.
The question remains; did anyone do anything interesting with AdMech last weekend? I won’t be looking at any team’s events, because they don’t count. You can just as easily go 0-5 at teams as you can 5-0 depending on pairings and whether you are the attacker/defender, while your team score entirely contrasts your own. Wait a minute, this is also the same for singles events… hmm… The only true test of skill is how many Sydonian Skatros you include in your list.
Picture this
The ‘ECDC Present: The Big Sky Open 2025’ is coming up, you’re a – presumably – young AdMech player, hungry for more, you hunker down, read the latest balance dataslate and realize, Knights are fucked. What would you do?
If your name is Zach Zullo, you put 3×3 Dragoons with Taser Lances in your list, apparently.
Zach’s List ‘AdMech Conquerer’: taking advantage of the somewhat obscure sub-doctrina of conquerer instead of conqueror.
- Cawl
- 2x Tech-Priest Mani
- 10x Rangers
- 10x Vanguard
- 2×3 Breachers
- 2×5 Skystalkers
- 3x Raiders
- Servitor Battleclade
- 5x Infiltrators
- 2x Disintegrators
- 3×3 Dragoons with Taser Lances
Zach isn’t here to have intercourse with spiders, Zach is here to declare his Doctrina Imperative to be the conqueror variety and send it with some long legged robros.
This list is straight forward, with enough Battleline to support the Breachers re-rolls and extra ap from the dizzies, while the Dragoons yeet up the board and cause problems for, most armies.
Having enough shooting to wam-bam Armigers, and cause enough chip damage to a big knight that the Dragoons can finish them off in combat ensures Zach has enough oomph to punch through the stat check that Knights bring to the table – it’s literally the only thing they do – while also managing the other elite armies that are floating around the meta.
Zach’s placing was 8/71 and ended up going 4-2.
Pairings:
- Astra Militarum – Win
- Chaos Daemons – Win
- Death Guard – Win
- Drukhari – Loss
- Adeptus Custodes – Win
- World Eaters – Loss
I haven’t had much experience playing Drukhari so I’m not sure how that match up goes. But I’ve played Against WE a few times, and Berserker Warband is difficult for AdMech to get through. Zach’s opponent had triple Helbrute’s and with the ability to chain fights together and pile in/consolidate 6″ it’s likely these units chewed through a good bunch of AdMech and left Zach with few resources.
A good run with wins against solid armies, although, it’s always a shame when you tech for the meta, and don’t see the meta.
Kastelan Robot good now
Taking advantage of the newly buffed Kastelan Robots in Cohort Cybernetica, Edward Molnar’s list features 8 Kastelan Robots & the rest.
Edward’s list ‘same bot time, same bot channel’:
- Cawl
- Datasmith: Necromechanic
- Datasmith
- Tech-Priest Enginseer
- 2×10 Rangers
- 2×5 Skystalkers
- 2x Servitor Battleclade
- 5x Infiltrators
- 2×4 Kastelans – Fists & Flamers duh
- 3x Skorpius Disintegrators
Solid AdMech good stuff, enough scoring to score, enough shooting to shoot, enough robot to KILL.
Fairly versed into the meta, dizzies can kill Knights with guns, Kastelans can kill Knights with fists, what more is there in life, really?
Pairings:
- CSM – Loss – Pactbound Abaddon castle w/ Vashtorr & Vindi’s. Death to Kastelans, score was close.
- GK – Win
- DG – Win – by 1 point 47-46, probably went to time?
- Votann – Win – 100-0, controversial???
- Deathwatch – Win
Kastelan Robots definitely have play. It appears the ‘punch’ part of any AdMech list is fairly interchangeable between Electro-Priests, Striders, Dizzies, Rusties & Kastelans, although leaning into the extra OC in Cybernetica allows running more than 1 unit to be more viable than in Haloscreed.
This event said it was 6 rounds, but I’m currently looking at BCP and there is no Round 6, so Edward finished 4th on a 4-1 record, I guess.
There were some other RTT players, but we don’t care about them.
My only problem with the current state of affairs if the absolute lack of two things.
- Sydonian Skatros
- Electro-priests of any variety
Do better Ad Mech players.
That’s it.
Play 8 Kastelans or 9 Dragoons, otherwise.
Perish.
