Hey, AdMech is shit I don’t play them anymore.
On the 29th of March I attended squad games, held by the Risky Rollers boys at the gaming arena in Melbourne. This was a 4-man teams RTT with a total of 64 players and 1 coach in attendance, which is HUGE for an RTT. It’s actually bigger than a lot of the GTs here in Victoria. It is a great time to be playing toy-soldiers right now (sort of).
Our team consisted of
Knights nick – Nick
Deathron – Aaron
Sister Kristian – Kristian
Ryan – Ryan
Our team name: Tausucks69420
They do suck.
Nick was playing Imperial knights, as god intended. Aaron is on Death Guard, Kristian is a Chaos Daemons enjoyer and I was playing Chaos Space Marines.
Yeah um, the Adeptus Mechanicus is dead. I didn’t have an enjoyable time last year, self-inflicted of course, but onwards to bigger and better things. I am currently a Chaos Space Marine and Genestealer Cult enjoyer, and pending my ability to actually have battle-ready armies these are what I’ll be taking to RTTs and GTs this tournament season.
My list:
Chaos Space Marines – Pactbound Zealots
- Chaos lord – Khorne – Talisman of Burning Blood
- Heretic Astartes Daemon Prince with Wings – Slaanesh – Intoxicating Elixic
- Vashtorr the Arkifane
- Cultist Mob – Nurgle
- Legionaries – Khorne
- Chaos Rhino – Khorne
- Chaos Vindicator – Nurgle
- Forgefiend – Nurgle
- Havocs – Nurgle
- Helbrute – Nurgle
- 3×2 Obliterators – Tzeentch
- Possessed – Slaanesh
- Raptors – Slaanesh
My rational behind the list? Oh you, you think too highly of me, anyway.
Round 1 – Deploy on the Line
(W, 19-1) – CSM vs. Julian’s Imperial Knights Search and Destroy, Raise Banners, Linchpin
Julian’s List: Canis Rex, Cerastus Knight Lancer: Banner of Marcharius Triumphant, Knight Castellan: Mysterious Guardian, 2x Armiger Helverin, Armiger Warglaive, Ministorum Priest, Sisters of Battle Immolator.
Game 1, Imperial knights. A match up I know well thanks to Knights Nick. Julian is an actual gamer and brought 3 big knights + sister allies. I loved this list and if I was a total degenerate Knight player it would be something I would consider running.
I started with 2 units of Obliterators, and the Raptors in Deepstrike, and the Legionaries + Chaos Lord in the Rhino. I did the same for all my games at this event. Putting those units in the transport just made sense, and having the Oblits + Raptors in Deepstrike gave me flexibility and allowed me to position my units as required.
Other than that, I hid all my boys so I couldn’t get shot and we rolled for first turn. I was going first, I love going first.
I moved a bit, staged a bit, pushed my Possessed up to my natural expansion and hid my Daemon Prince, so if Julian utilised the Mysterious Guardian enhancement of his Castellan he would not be able to annihilate my Warlord in the first Battle round.
In Julian’s turn he pushed forward quite aggressively, the Lancer came to the middle, just off the objective. Canis swung around, advancing over the building, an Armiger moved onto a point to Sabotage and the Castellan moved into the top ruin to shoot the possessed. Julian’s shooting phase was grim, the Castellan killed a single Possessed with all of it’s shooting. I made 8/9 5+ Invulns or something stupid, back to me.

Unfortunately, after this turn it was all Ogre. I got 6 wounds through with the Vindicator and one-shot Canis after Julian failed 6 4+ invuln saves (lol), I tied up the Castellan in shooting for the remainder of the game with Possessed, Legionaries and the Daemon Prince, and Vashtorr killed the Helverin on the lower objective. The dice just weren’t on Julian’s side. Vashtorr survived an explosion from Canis, the shooting of a Warglaive + Immolator in the next turn, a tank shock, fighting from the Warglaive and overwatch from the Immolator. In turn Vashtorr killed two Armiger’s and an Immolator in this game, eventually dying to an exploding Immolator, cool.
Julian was a great opponent, and I’m going to send him some OOP metal Sisters for his troubles, when I get around to it…

Round 2 – Snacky not salty
(W, 16-4) – CSM vs. Mark’s Blood Angels Purge the Foe, Smoke and Mirror, Tipping Point
Julian’s List: Captain with Jump Pack: Rage-fuelled Warrior, Commander Dante, Judiciar: Icon of the Angel, Lemartes, 5x JPI, 10x JPI, Ballistus Dread, 6x BGV, 10x Death Company w/ JP, 2×5 Infiltrators, Outriders, Repulsor Executioner, 6x Sanguinary Guard
Game 2, they paired me into Blood Angels and put me on the heavy terrain table, thanks guys. I had a few great conversations with Mark during this game, at one point he mentioned to me he didn’t really like painting, and for someone that doesn’t really like painting he had one of the best painted armies I had the joy of playing at an event. A well painted Blood Angels army just looks unreal.
In this game I had the joy of going second on Purge the Foe, so I knew I was going to win this, it was just a matter of how many points I could get with WTC scoring. If anyone doesn’t know WTC stands for ‘world teams championship’ but it might as well stand for ‘I’m a fucking loser lets play by these dumb house rules’. Teams uses differential scoring because that’s somehow different than just combining total VPs at the end of each round. I’m telling you, Warhammer is just chess for people that never learnt how to read. I think I’m funny, even if you don’t.
No big memes really happened in this game, my Chaos lord killed 6 Death Company + Lemartes in one activation which was a gamer move. If I was going second it may have been a harder game but Mark wasn’t asking enough questions for me to answer. He was playing very conservatively due to not wanting to lose his big 10 man bricks, but eventually he had to make a play and when he did I killed his entire army (except for the Sang Guard, I killed them in the next turn).

Pictured above is somewhere around turn I forget. But I took his Repulsor Executioner down to 3 wounds or something with jump Havocs and a squad of raptors which was a good meme. I’m a loser.

Round 3 – Admechsucks42069
(W, 15-5) – CSM vs. Corey Brush’s Chaos Daemons, Linchpin, Fog of War, Tipping Point
Corey’s List: Idk Daemons
Get rekt Corey

Overall, teams was an enjoyable experience. I would go again. Once again I forgot to take decent photos, I’m never going to remember so enjoy mediocrity.
Thanks for reading, I’ll see you next time where I write about something else.
Goodbye.
